This style post is a long time coming. I posted (  THIS pic ) on Instagram and announced that this divine nautical outfit would be up on the blog on Monday.. a week ago. I had the best of intentions, you guys! I sat down at least three times to edit and write, but, life took over. I have to say, I am more than okay with that. I realized that sometimes we have to take a step back from these little black keys, and fully engagement in the life around us. Our online spaces are important and special but they aren't  going anywhere. Moments of laughter, moments to store up lasting memories, moments of love.. those are fleeting. Snatch up every chance you have to soak in those moments! Your online space will right here waiting for you :)

On another note: I am loving these nautical vibes. Living in a town that is 100% boating/beach oriented, this outfit just makes sense. I hate boating, mind you. It pains me to be trapped on a sea vessel with salty air whipping the lion's mane, and stinging my eyes. This outfit is my way of embracing the "salt life".. without getting salty or wind whipped. Speaking of being wind whipped.. Massive shoutout to windblown half top-knots.

W E A R I N G:

TOP: Bailey44   This top is from last season and I can't find it anywhere online!

SKIRT:  Banana Republic  |  This ridiculously comfy skirt is out of stock right now. Sad dayHERE is a fun alternative.

WEDGES: Jessica Simpson  |  These wedges are another case of "oops last season", and that was at least three seasons ago. YikesHERE is the updated version. I secretly love them more than the wedges I already have.

BAG: Shabby Apple  |  Apparently handbags are no longer an option at Shabby Apple. Crazy right?

NECKLACE: This necklace was gifted to me from my Aunt a number of years ago. It sparkles like crazy in person. It's magical ;)

What is your stance on nautical vibes? Have you needed to 'step back' from your social platform and catch your breathe? Let's chit-chat about it in the comments!
Have a beautiful day, Jen xo

Easy Spring Makeup + Lip Tint Favorites

Easy Spring Makeup + Lip Tint Favorites

Monday, March 21, 2016

I am so excited you guys! The beautiful spring weather is finally settling in. It seems to breathe new life not only into the scenery, but, also in the people of this little town. The park is filled with laughter, and frisbee play, and walks along the waterfront are an evening staple. It's groovy. Am I allowed to use throwback words like that?

This new warmer and colorful weather has inspired my recent makeup looks. Soft shimmery pinks are on replay lately. I'm loving it! I've never been a girl who likes pink, but, those pink eyeshadows make me weak in the knees. A rosy pink eyeshadow and a coat of mascara is really all you need! This look has been my go-to this past week. It is the easiest spring makeup look!

EASY SPRING MAKEUP LOOK.
If you follow me on Instagram you will already know how much I adore bareMinerals shadows. The loose single eyeshadows have build-able color and offer a touch of shimmer without being too glittery. The loose shadows make an even bolder statement if you wet your brush before applying. Just so you guys know, NONE of my links for this post are affiliate links. I just really love bareMinerals ;)

I typically apply my foundation or tinted moisturizer first so my face is good to go! So started there. Apply whatever foundation you love, contour if you'd like, fill in those gappy brows ( raises hand ).. and then move on to the eyes. Before applying the eyeshadow, pop on some eyelid primer to ensure your eyeshadow looks flawless all day long!

| Step 1.
Apply a medium mauve rose shadow in the out crease/corner of the eyelids. I'm using Catch Me If.. from the Covert Affair bareMinerals duo palette ( you can snatch that up here! ). Blend, blend, blend! This is THE most important aspect of any eyeshadow application. Soften any and all hard lines/edges with a fluffy blending brush.

| Step 2.
Apply a light rose gold shadow over entire lid. For this I am using bareMinerals loose eyeshadow in Serene. It is seriously the prettiest pink shadow! ( Grab it here ).

| Step 3.
Using a liner brush, smudge a matte brown shadow into the outer corners of your top lash line. I used Chocolate Mousse from the bareMinerals loose shadows. I know, I know, enough with the bareMinerals Jen! You can use any dark brown shadow you love. ( If chocolate mouse is your thing, claim one for yourself here ).

| Step 4.
Apply mascara. I almost feel bad for even making this a step. I mean, it's a given. We don't just waltz out the door with naked eyelashes! So, curl them and apply a coat or two of mascara. If you're a falsies kind of girl go ahead and pop those fluffy lashes on.

I have yet to master false eyelashes. I have three years to perfect false eyelash application for my wedding. Any and all tutorials are appreciated ;)

| Step 5.
We can't forget the lips! I have recently fallen utterly in love with Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer sticks. They're not lipstick, but they're not just a lip balm either. They are a magical combination of the two! For this look I combined Plum and Grapefruit to get a soft rosy pink lip. Start with Plum ( a little goes a long way ), then apply the light pink shade, Grapefruit, and hit your lips with some gloss. Just enough to add a little shine.

I honestly can;t get enough of the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer Sticks. You can easily get them at Walgreens or here ( the power of online shopping! ). There are fourteen colors to choose from so there is something for everyone. My personal favorites are Plum, Grapefruit, Apricot, Raisin, and Peony. They all have a minty kick which I have somehow convinced myself makes my lips fuller. Burt's makes no claims to such a thing, but, i'm rolling with it!

Oh hey, did I mention that I collaborated with some awesome women for a beauty spring inspiration roundup! I'm not the only one sharing fun spring beauty looks, and spring-smart beauty products. The Ten Minute Morning Beauty Routine

The Ten Minute Morning Beauty Routine

Friday, March 11, 2016

It is tough being a girl. It is even tougher when you are on the go with work, school, kids, your creative entrepreneurial endeavors! We women wear many hats. Who has time to primp and style? We’re lucky if we make it out of the door looking half awake. There are many different elements that go into the process of getting ready as a girl; if only we could simply brush our hair and teeth and be on our way. Life would be so much simpler. These seven beauty hacks will make your routine as easy as possible, and as quick as possible so you can focus on more important things, like rolling out of bed at a snail’s pace.

_______ SEVEN TIME SAVING BEAUTY TIPS _______

| Wash Your Face The Night Before.
Sleeping with makeup on causes wrinkles and breakouts ( so stop doing that! ). On the other side of that coin: Over washing your face strips your skin of its natural oil, thus causing dry and breakout prone skin; the bane of every girl’s existence. The solution? Take all of your makeup off at night with a makeup removing towelette, and wash your face with a deep cleanser. Let your skin breathe overnight, and apply a moisturizer in the morning as soon as you wake up. There’s an extra five minutes of sleep for you!

| A Little Tint Never Hurt Nobody
Tinted moisturizer is the coffee of makeup; you can’t function without it, or shouldn’t, depending on your level of agitation at the fact that it is now morning. You are beautiful, whether or not you think it or feel it in the morning, and all you really need is to enhance what you have. A tinted moisturizer will brighten up the face and camouflage any dark circles and even out your skin tone. That means you will look awake, fresh, and naturally glowing. Skip the foundation brushes and beauty blenders! Massage the tinted moisturizer into your skin with your fingertips. It takes less time and melts the product into your skin. You have now accomplished two steps with one motion; moisturized your skin and applied your “foundation”.

Bonus Tip: Pat a little bit of coconut oil on your cheekbones and cupid’s bow for a natural dewy finish that will last.

| Use White Eyeliner
Still feeling a little sleepy? Make sure you don’t look sleepy with the help of a little white eyeliner. White eyeliner wakes up the eyes, giving you a bright ready-to-take-on-the-day look! Apply white eyeliner to your bottom lash line. It enhances the “whites” of your eyes so they stand out, and makes your eyes look alert. A white or cream colored eyeliner pencil will do the trick.

| Prime and Go.
Skip the eye shadow and black liner. We’re women on-the-go so every minute counts! Pop a brightening eye primer on your eyelids and be done with it. A brightening eye primer and a quick coat of mascara makes all the difference in the world, but it only takes moment. You can even go for a pearlescent primer to give the eyes a bit of demure shimmer.

| Fill In The Gaps
Brows can be tricky and time consuming when you’re doing a full glam look. On-the-go brows are easier than you think. The trick is simply to fill in the gaps. A brow styler is all that you need. Brush through your brows with the brow styler’s attached spoolie, and lightly fill in the gaps in the tail and arch of your brow. Brush through brows again to soften. That’s it. Natural brows give your face soft frame, and that is really all that you need!

My Absolute Favorite: Frame and Define Brow Styler

| The Perfect Messy Bun Every Time
Yes, this is possible to accomplish. Straight hair, iron curled, naturally curly, it doesn’t matter! This quick flip and twist works for all and results in the most gloriously effortless top knot you will ever don. Grab a hair tie and flip your head over. Rough your hair up a little with your fingertips and gather it all together like you are going to pull it into a ponytail on top of your head. Flip your head back over ( let that dizzy, my blood pressure is adjusting, aura make you feel alive! ) and twist your hair into a high and tight top knot. Give the knot a few loosening tugs to enhance the messy look, and pull a few strands of hair out near your ears and along the hairline just above the arch of your brows. Voila! Perfectly messy. Perfectly put together.

Bonus: Add in a shimmery decorative bobby for some extra pizzaz.

Fun Bobby Add-ins: Anthropologie Camille Bobby Set  |  Floating Forest Bobbies

| A Kiss Of Color
Your pout needs love too. Aside from a good sugar scrub, one of the best ways to care for your lips and make them look good too is a tinted balm. The marriage of sheer color and nourishing moister is ideal for those days when you have five minutes to get ready, but want to look put together. A rich cranberry or plum tinted balm will deliver that vampy chic look without all of the time and effort! That is a beauty win and at least seven extra minutes of sleep.

Favorites: Burt's Bees Shimmer Sticks  |  Burt's Tinted Balm

Can it be? Face, eyes, brows, lips, and hair! Yes. Just think, you can accomplish all of this in ten minutes and go skipping out the door looking like a mostly awake, naturally beautiful woman! The whole process actually takes just under nine minutes ( yes, I timed myself ), but let's give ourselves ten minutes. An extra minute of grace is always welcome!
