Hey hey! I am so in love with these chilly days. Every girls needs to have the perfect sweater and the perfect pair of fall wedges, am I right!? They are two staples of a great comfortable fall wardrobe. I have purchased more sweaters in the past month than I thought I would ever need living in the South. I still don't need them, mind you, but a girl's gotta have the sweaters! This Red Haute sweater is a major splurge, that I managed to snag for a steal. Huzzah for shop girl perks. If you simply must have this sweater, I have linked you up! Perhaps sending a few elves to tell someone you love to buy it for Christmas would take the guilt out of this splurge ;)

I do want to take a moment to rave about the necklace that I am wearing! I have quite a necklace collection. I do not have pierced ears ( anymore ) so I am limited to bracelets, rings, and necklaces. Necklaces being my absolute favorite. I have not taken this Chloe + Isabel necklace off! The quality caught me eye right away. It is the nicest, most well made necklace I have ever worn. I think I am spoiled now! You can buy this necklace here from Cait's for $68, and it is worth every penny!

Wednesday, November 18, 2015
Hello! As you may have noticed this little ole blog of mine got a facelift and a new name. Welcome to The Nosh Life. You may find that some recipes [ like this one ] still have Boone & Owl branding - Due to the number of styled recipes I have not been able to update the visuals for every post yet. If you enjoyed this recipe and would like to pin it for later please use the updated pinnable image below and help solidify the new branding! Thanks, loves - Jen

Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are the most inviting sweet of fall. The onset of cool breezy fall weather has inspired me to bake quite a bit in the past week and a half. To me, there is nothing more relaxing than baking. Measuring, mixing, tasting.. it is a cozy release. Since Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner ( nine days away, you guys. NINE. ) I decided to whip up Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies. Say that three times fast! I try to make these at least once during November. They are Thanksgiving wrapped in a cookie. I am known for cake like cookies, and these little pillows of yumminess are exactly that. They are cake like; moist and packed with flavor. They taste like a pumpkin pie made by angels.. but better!

For this particular recipe, I used a Betty Crocker base sugar cookie mix. This is simply a time saver. You can turn a sugar cookie base into anything you desire! It is a great little trick if you are short on time.

INGREDIENTS:

1 box of your favorite sugar cookie mix ( I use Betty Crocker gluten free )

1 stick of butter

1 large egg

1 teaspoon of vanilla ( I use Spice Islands )

1 1/2 teaspoons of water

1 1/2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup of pure pumpkin puree

1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips ( I use Ghirardelli 60% dark )

1/2 cup of walnuts ( finely chopped )

* you can use any nut that you prefer. Chopped almonds or macadamia nuts would be great in this recipe as well!

PREPARATION.

Preheat oven to 350˚. Finely shop walnuts ( or nuts or your choice ) and set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl combine the sugar cookie base, butter, egg, vanilla, water, and spices ( pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and cocoa ). Mix until a soft dough forms. May appear slightly sandy. Fold in pumpkin puree. A loose dough will form.

Fold in dark chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

On your lined baking sheet drop hefty teaspoons full of the cookie dough. Because these cookies are quite cake like, you will need to press down on the dough with the back of your spoon so they do not rise too much. If you like super fluffy cookies, leave the dough drops as is.

Bake for 10 -12 minutes and enjoy!

You can store theses cookies in an airtight container for up to a week ( if they last that long! ) These cookies are amazing warm! Pop them in the microwave for 12 seconds and enjoy with a cold glass of milk during the week!

* do keep in mind that these cookies are very cake like. Once stored, the slight outer crust will soften much like a cupcake top. They are moist and fluffy.

Savory Roasted Carrots

Savory Roasted Carrots

easy-roasted-carrots-recipe

Hey guys! Need a quick healthy recipe? Roasted carrot disks are both savory and sweet! These roasted carrots are so delicious, and you do not have to feel guilty after chowing down.  I have eaten an entire pan by myself! I also turned orange from doing that one too many times. Beta-carotene at its finest. If you are not up for looking like an oompa loompa, share these scrumptious carrots with your loved ones and spread the beta-carotene around ;)

WHAT YOU NEED:

10 large carrots ( I use orange, purple, and white carrots ).

2 tablespoons of olive oil.

A palm full each ( about 1 1/2 teaspoons) of black pepper, Italian herbs, and onion powder.

COOKING:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Dice carrots into round disks and spread out on a lined baking sheet. Pour olive oil evenly over carrots and sprinkle spices. Toss evenly to coat. Bake for 25-30 minutes and enjoy!

It is that simple! The prep is very easy and only takes a few minutes. If you want slightly crisp edges on the smaller disks, roast the carrots for 40 minutes.

* I use organic carrots from my local fresh market that are absolutely huge. If you are using the typical orange carrots from the grocery store you will need to up the number used x2.

The One Makeup Hack You Need For A Flawless Look

The One Makeup Hack You Need For A Flawless Look

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Hey hey! Today's post is fun. I have been working on putting together a makeup series for the blog, and today's post is the first installment! #excitement. Today we are talking about highlighting the face; the best points to place a highlight, and the easiest hack to get the perfect natural highlight without spending your life savings. Y'all know how much I love makeup. I have a basket on my bathroom counter and it is bursting at the seams with makeup! So much so, in fact, that some of it will not even fit in the basket at all. There is makeup on the counter all around the basket. I just cannot help myself.. I see makeup and I buy it.

We are all familiar with highlighting and contouring. They are the bedrock of a great makeup look. The reality is this: the everygirl does not have time for the added steps of mapping out highlights and contour. There is a simple way to get a glowing highlight that will make you look refreshed and youthful, without slowing you down! This is the easiest makeup hack! Since you already have the one product necessary for this makeup hack in your makeup bag, it will not cost you an extra penny.

H I G H L I G H T I N G  H A C K.
Are you ready for the easiest highlighting hack? Eyeshadow. We all have either a single white eyeshadow, or an eyeshadow palette in our makeup bag that contains the light brow-bone shadow ( like a Maybelline palette  ). That bright shadow is your best friend, and the greatest tool for a quick makeup hack. The key to this hack is applying the shadow before you put your foundation or tinted moisturizer on, and applying it in the right areas.

THE SHADOW | This highlight shadow can range from matte white to an iridescent ice gray. A very pale matte pink shadow will also work. The optimum shadow would be an iridescent white or cream. You are using this eyeshadow to brighten and bring forward. Matte shadow will brighten without a dewy afterglow. Iridescent shadow will brighten and leave a slight dewy or glowing quality to the highlighted areas.

WHERE TO APPLY | This part can feel tricky, but it is actually quite simple. Since you are working with an eyeshadow you have a lot of control. You can build the shadow to make the highlight more noticeable or keep it on the softer side till you get comfortable with it. There is no real way to mess this hack up. There are four areas where you will apply the highlight shadow:

1. Under eye/cheekbones
2. Cupid's Bow | area above top lip
3. Chin
4. Bridge of the nose | highest point

The illustration above shows exactly where each of the four application areas are located on the face. Buff the highlighting eyeshadow into those four areas and then apply foundation or tinted moisturizer as you normally would. The eyeshadow will brighten up these areas and bring them forward to the eye giving the face dimension.

If you are into the current trend of strobing, set your makeup with an illuminating translucent powder, particularly in the areas that you highlighted with eyeshadow. It will give your skin a glowing airbrushed finish. Focus the illuminating powder on the cheekbones, cupid's bow, and just above the arch of the eyebrows for a more natural and wearable strobe. The bareMinerals Illuminating Veil is my personal favorite for this.

Voila! The easiest makeup hack for a glowing youthful look! What is one of your favorite makeup hacks? Tell me all about it in the comments!
