THE GOODS

| DRESS: LOFT ( EXACT )

| CLUTCH: BCC

| SANDALS: KENNETH COLE

| JEWELRY: NEW DIRECTIONS

I'm being such a rebel today. Blue is becoming a staple for me lately. I'm just breaking all of my  rules. On the road trip home from Flat Rock, NC my spunky mother and I stopped at this snazzy shopping center and spent a couple of hours in a LOFT. I got this floral Henley dress and opened the door to my spiral down into wearing blue. It's a super comfy, breezy summer dress. If there's a LOFT near you, go get this dress! I couldn't begin to say enough wonderful things about it.

It has been hot as blazes lately. Am I crazy for enjoying it a little? The warmth of the sun has been a welcomed friend. Sometimes a little too welcome. It's so blistering some days that outdoor activities/exercise are not happening. It is for this sweltering reason that I have taken up spinning.. kind of. I can only tolerate thirty minutes right now, but I'm getting there. I'm a girl who prefers weights to cardio. Cardio is of the devil. What's your go to? Weights? Cardio? Maybe a little Pilates?

How is summer treating you so far?

THE GOODS

| DRESS: CROWN & IVY

| JEWELRY: C/O EAST & LINBROOKE

| SANDALS: KENNETH COLE

Hey hey! If you follow me on Instagram you know that I am currently in Flat Rock North Carolina for a family reunion. We left the salt life behind for a few much needed days in the mountains! It is so uniquely peaceful up here. Twenty-three aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, parents, grandparents all converged  on this beautiful mountain "sanitary in the woods". I call them "the herd" which is ironic because they are the Herd side of the family.

Yesterday was family portrait day by the lake. That's a whole beast in itself. Do y'all have any idea how many combinations of family members you can photograph with twenty-three people? It's twice as many as you think. It was grand fun, and only one person almost fell in the lake. That is true success, friends.

It was really hot yesterday so I snatched this little navy number out of my suitcase and popped on a really fun necklace from East & Linbrooke. If you haven't checked out that shop definitely swing on by. East & Linbrooke is an online boutique based out of Nashville, Tennessee that specializes in women's fashion and accessories without the boutique price. Perfect for the girl on a budget. Use the coupon code OWL10 for 10% off in the shop! Yay for discounts. Snap some pics of your cute finds and share them on Instagram using #eastandlinbrooke. It's a fun way to see y'alls unique choices and style!

I've been snapping pics this past week of our grand family adventure. Hopefully I can get some of them up soon! Fingers crossed. Have a great monday, friends!

How big is your family?

FINDING HOPE IN THE MIDST OF LOSS

FINDING HOPE IN THE MIDST OF LOSS

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

Hello friends. I've been away for a while. My dearest friend, Michelle, lost her husband suddenly and I needed to take some time away. I shared on Instagram and Facebook a brief explanation of the situation, and I received many sweet messages. Your prayers were deeply appreciated. Thank you for the words of encouragement, love, and prayers. Each meant so very much to all of us.

As believers in Christ, we mourn for our loss, but rejoice for the one we love knowing that they are with our Savior in heaven. What joy and worship they must be partaking in. It hurts to lose someone we love. It hurts more profoundly than words can express. Finding hope in Christ is what gets us through; it sustains our overwhelmed hearts. God sees every tear, He hears every broken cry of our heart, and He is faithful to carry us. We cannot always know what God's plans are. We cannot understand why He allows such pain and loss. In it all though, He is still good. He is still sovereign. Psalm 34 affirms that God is near to the brokenhearted and that He saves the crushed in spirit. He does not leave us alone.

"..and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand."
John 10:28

Those who know Jesus Christ as their Savior have eternal life. That is what brings us comfort, and the knowledge that we will see him again. It is so comforting to know that death is not the end for a believer.  God has prepared a new home for us where there will be no more death, no more pain, and no more tears. That is the hope that we cling to. That is the hope that gives us joy in the midst of sorrow.

I want to say thank you again to each and every one of you that reached out and prayed for Michelle and her family, and for all of us that counted Kendall a friend and loved him. Your sweet messages meant so much, and were an encouragement in the middle of such a confusing and painful time. Thank you, friends.

Where do you find your comfort?
